Formica Sp
Formica sp. refers to several species of European ants, among the most dynamic and impressive to raise. Known for their speed, organization, and intense activity in the foraging area, they are suitable for breeders who wish to observe a true colony on a large scale—several thousands to tens of thousands of workers at maturity.
The species offered by AntWorld originate from Belgium. Workers show color variations depending on the specimens: from intense black to bicolour reddish-brown. Their hunting behavior is particularly pronounced: fast, coordinated, and capable of overpowering prey much larger than themselves.
Formica sp. is a species that requires a little more attention than Messor barbarus or Camponotus nicobarensis: diapause is mandatory, and humidity conditions must be well managed. It is recommended for breeders who already have basic experience in myrmecology.
